Perfect Timing (December 8, 2014)

Hola familia y amigos!
How have you all been?! How are things going with the "He's the Gift" video? Things are good here! Almost Christmas! Also, we had transfers this week. We're staying!!! I'm so excited! We don't have to go to a new area for Christmas! PLUS, we have a ton of people we're teaching and I'm really excited to stay here. Let's see, what else? This week it snowed on Monday. But just a tiny bit and it melted pretty quick.
I don't have too much time to email today, but I have a few stories to tell. One is of a family in our ward. They got sealed this week in the temple! They're ward missionaries and they've helped us a ton. They asked us to help them out with their reception after they got sealed. We did the programs and helped decorate and make and serve the food. It was so precious to talk to them. You could tell they had a lot on their mind, but when I asked the Brother how he was feeling, he just smiled and said that he was great. You could tell he was just SO happy. It was awesome. This little experience bore testimony to me of HOW happy the temple and covenants make us. To have that reassurance that we really can be with our families forever brings peace that you can't find anywhere else.
The other story is about Nancy and Gustavo. I guess it's pretty simple, but it was a lesson to me about following up. We have invited them a ton to come to church. They always say that they will one day. Then this last week, we brought the Lopez family (in our ward). Nancy finally told us about her fears of going to church. They were afraid that they would be called out to answer a question or get up and have to do something that they're uncomfortable with. We had always asked them why they didn't come, but they never told us that until the Lopez family came with us. So after we cleared that up, they said that they would for sure come. Ok, awesome. Then again, Sunday morning, we went over to help them get their kids ready. They have 5 kids, one of which is a brand new baby of a month. We went over an hour and half early and they had just woken up. So we helped them. It took a long time and about 5 minutes before church was about to start, they were running around, looking for their keys. Haha classic. But they came! And they liked it. And as we walked up to the building, about 5/10 minutes late, it was exactly as the Lopez family was getting there! PERFECT TIMING! Then they were able to come in with them and Nancy and Gustavo sat with the Lopez'. It was a serious blessing! Super cool. And all because we followed up with them.
Anyways, I love being a missionary. It's an awesome learning experience and I'm grateful for it. Have an amazing week!
Con amor,
Hermana Shirley

We went to a taco truck and I got a "Super Burrito". How Hna Ekonomo described it: "Like a normal burrito, just a dollar more." Buuut, it was deeeefinitely "super."

Officially my favorite dog I've seen on my mission. He has legit dreads. It's kinda like a dog with long, dread hair.
