A Fiesta and Fingernails. (July 28, 2014)

Hola familia y amigos!
This week was finally our branch party! We had done a ton of work for it and it all came together. It was Karaoke, dancing, piƱatas, and food. The food ended up being the main event. We were nervous about how many people to expect, but there was a really good turnout. We even had some people we were teaching show up! When we were getting ready for it, we went shopping for the meat. We bought carne asada at the local grocery store and bought out all they had at the deli! It was like $40 worth. And then we also did the decorations. We set everything up and let people come. People showed up and it was so exciting to finally have a branch activity. They haven't had one in awhile, so they were grateful. And I'm grateful for the people here. There are amazing people everywhere. Especially here. There are so many people here willing to help us out and cheer us up in any way we need. It's been really cool being here in Ontario and being able to have this experience.
One thing that I was reminded of this week was how much the gospel brings HOPE. The plan that Heavenly Father laid out for us is all about hope and giving us more chances. We can always repent and try again. We can always change and be better. The perspective that comes from knowing the purpose of this life and where we're going after we die brings so much peace. We had a really good lesson with one of the people we are teaching. We told her all this and as I said it, it just testified to me how amazing the gospel is and reminded me why I chose to come on a mission. It's because this perspective, peace, and hope changes lives and helps with all of life's problems.
Con amor,
Hermanita Shirley

We visited a member and her daughter painted my nails. She's 5. I'd say she has a beauty career in her future.

Tried my first churro ever. Had to document it, of course.

Sunrise this time.

Dickensons across the street.
