Gifts and Christmas this weeeeek! (December 22, 2014)

Hola familia y amigos!
This was a very full week. I was getting over being sick and Hna. Ekonomo got sick. Sooo we had lots of tissues in hand. But it was alright. It's been raining all week and I find SOOO much satisfaction in driving fast through puddles. Everyone tells me how I'm used to this type of weather. Yep, pretty much.
We had a zone conference which was REALLY good. We learned more about how Christ is a gift. And then we did a white elephant. I gave this wind-catcher that I found at Goodwill and then I got car freshners. I'm ok with that. They're useful. Hna. Ekonomo got a singing fish! It has a sensor and we've already used it to scare the other sisters! ;)
We also had our ward Christmas party. It was so fun! We did a ton to help out with it and put together a skit and it was a total success! We invited a ton of people and a handful actually came. We were excited. One of the families we're teaching, they have a daughter named Zuri. She's 11 and super funny. She loves showing us things she makes and following us around. As we were doing things at the fiesta, she followed us around. Later, when I talked to her mom, she said that Zuri looked like a missionary, walking around with us. That made me smile. I could TOTALLY see her being a missionary in the future. They just need to get baptized first. It'll be soon. They're super ready for it.
This week, I learned a ton about Christ. About the Atonement and how that really works for us. I've never been a huge Bible person, I'd use it, but not too too much while teaching. Maybe because that means I have to carry an extra book around. But since I've been with Hna. Ekonomo, she loves it. She uses it a ton. At first I was a bit annoyed because I thought to myself, "We need to focus on and testify of the Book of Mormon," but then I realized how strong teaching can be when we use both. That's what we teach every day, but I think I finally realized that this week. Especially when I read the Gethsemane account in the Bible. It's in Luke 22:39-46. It's really beautiful. What it says really did happen and that's the reason for the season and everything.
Hope you all have an amazing week!
Con amor,
Hermana Shirley

At our ward party. "Santa hugs don't count, do they?"

With Zuri. We're teaching her and her mom. :)
