Busyness, Gratitude, and a Bathtism (October 27, 2014)

Hola familia y amigos!
This was a very full week. We ended up having a lot of random things and responsibilities that people gave us. So we had all that, but we still got a ton done with missionary work! We even taught more lessons than we ever have. Looking back on my week, I'm amazed at how we accomplished that with all the running around and other things we did too.
We helped with a relief society activity, we had exchanges with the sister training leaders, we had missionary meetings, I had a doctor's appointment, we helped with mutual, we helped a neighbor move, we helped with english class, our spanish ward hosted the monthly open house at the church, we went to Kuna to help them tract and find people, we had our weekly sports activity, AND we helped with the baptism of the other Nampa sisters.
When we were talking to the other sisters about their baptism, they were telling us that the lady's son thought that every time they said "baptism," they were saying "bathtism." Like they were talking about a bathtub. I was cracking up about that. I guess he's got the visual concept, right?
Every day was full and so we had to be really really effective with our time. We had to squeeze our lessons in between all this other stuff and so it made us work harder and faster. It's actually really cool how that worked out. Even though we had a ton going on, we still worked hard and did a ton of missionary work.
This week, I learned a lot about the plan of salvation. We had 2 really good lessons with people we're teaching where we focused on this plan. The awesome thing I learned as I was preparing to teach them, is that Heavenly Father gave us this plan, but the part that is really essential is the covenants. The covenants and promises we make with God make it possible for us to return to live with Him. We can't really take advantage of it and follow this plan without making these covenants. But when we do, that's when we're truly happy. We have peace. We KNOW that we'll be with our loved ones. It's just awesome. It gives meaning to life. And I realized that THAT'S the main thing I want to share with people here. I want others to know this message. That they can be happy and live with their families even after this life. That's what's really important.
I hope you all have an amazing week and I'll have stories and experiences to share next week. Sorry none of that really today.
Con amor,
Hermanita Shirley

This is Leovi. She's a young woman in our ward. She's the best!
