Hola familia y amigos!
How has your week been, everyone?! We had a really awesome week. We definitely had our ups and downs. We were on a role and made a lot of progress and then had a crucial lesson with one lady we're teaching and she told us she didn't want to get baptized on the date we had set together... :( So that was really hard. She is SOO ready to be baptized. She comes to everything and is pretty much doing more for the ward than a lot of members. But she has a lot of doubts and is waiting for an answer that, deep down, she has already received. We just need to find out those doubts and help her resolve them. So after she told us that, we were pretty bummed and asked our district leader for a blessing. That helped a lot. I'm so grateful for the priesthood!
Hermana Ekonomo and I gave talks in sacrament meeting last week. I forgot to mention it. Third talk in Spanish on my mission. I felt SO much more calm on this one than the other two. I still remember my very first Sunday, giving a talk and how nervous I was. I have now officially spoken in every ward I've served in.
We also met a man this week who told us about how he was cursed by a witch-lady (brujo) and he went to another good one to try to fix it and take off the curse. It was kinda creepy and we told him to be careful with people like that. That stuff is real and happens... BUT, luckily we have Heavenly Father on our side. So if we're careful and trust in HIS power instead of other sources, we'll be protected.
We were also super blessed because this week at church we had 6 of our investigators come! And they all STAYED all 3 hours! And as the new year changed the church time to 9:00AM, we were thinking that it would be a LOT harder for people to come. Even with the earlier time, people have been coming. It's definitely the hand of Heavenly Father.
Even though we have had some hard times, we've been really blessed! I'm learning a ton everyday. It's so amazing how Heavenly Father knows what we need to go through to learn and grow. He's trying to perfect us, even if we don't want it. He knows what we can handle and pushes us to be better. It's kinda awesome. We can't see how we've grown until after. Then we see His hand in it all. I love seeing these things and how He works in everyone's lives.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Con amor,
Hermana Shirley
